The week that wasJoy can’t last forever, can it? The US Dollar (USD) rapidly faded its prior gains and resumed its marked downside this week, with the US Dollar Index (DXY) coming close to its psychological 100.00 barrier, only to see that dream turn to ashes as market chatter reignited speculation that the Bank of Japan (BoJ) might hike its policy rate at its next meeting. But nobody, or nearly no one, said anything about a potential FX intervention by the MoF-BoJ duo.Not even fresh tensions in the back-and-forth scenario in the Middle East were able to give the buck any fresh…

Available for over a yearThere has been a lot of talk about rising bond yields, from Japan to the UK and the US, and alongside this government debt is growing all around the world. SLB (NYSE: SLB) just made a clear bet that data centers, not oil wells, define its next decade. On Aug. 31, the company announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Kelvion, a century-old thermal-management specialist, for approximately $3.4 billion in cash and the assumption of approximately $0.7 billion of debt, bringing the total transaction value to approximately $4.1 billion. Most coverage framed it as another modular infrastructure tuck-in to the company’s existing oil services business. That undersells it. Paired with SLB’s expanding NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) partnership and its rapidly scaling Data Center Solutions unit, the Kelvion deal signals SLB is building a genuine second growth engine. Management is targeting $4.5 billion to $5 billion in 2028 revenue for the combined Data Center Solutions business.…

Prof Ian Walker, head of psychology at Swansea University, said people could be “constrained by automatic habits” when it comes to water usage. He said: “You might think, ‘I should take shorter showers’, but once you get in there, you go into auto-pilot and take the same time regardless.”One of the best things you could ask people to do is don’t have showers and don’t wash your clothes. But that’s not going to happen either.”He suggested an easier approach was to lock-in water savings measures, such as getting a low-flow shower.”You do that once as a deliberate choice, but then you…
