Looking back at the past quarter-century, it becomes apparent that the 9/11 terrorist attack against the United States was not a transformative event. Far more important developments have intervened, not least America’s rejection of the postwar order that it had a large hand in building.
NEW YORK—This week marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. For many Americans, 9/11 is a distant memory, or not a memory at all—approximately 40% of the US population was either born after the attacks or is too young to remember them.
